Comment: – According to the Bible atonement for sins can be accomplished by
other ways than by blood sacrifice. According to the Bible
there are 4 other ways for the forgiveness of sin.
See general comments at end of this page.
- Leviticus 5:10 -13
- 10 And he shall offer the second [for] a burnt offering, according to the manner: and the priest shall make an atonement for him for his sin which he hath sinned, and it shall be forgiven him.
11 But if he be not able to bring two turtledoves, or two young pigeons, then he that sinned shall bring for his offering the tenth part of an
ephah of fine flour for a sin offering; he shall put no oil upon it, neither shall he put [any] frankincense thereon: for it [is] a sin offering.12 Then shall he bring it to the priest, and the priest shall take his handful of it,
[even] a memorial thereof, and burn [it] on the altar, according to the offerings made by fire unto the LORD: it [is] a sin offering.13 And the priest shall make an atonement for him as touching his sin that he hath sinned in one of these, and it shall be forgiven him:
and [the remnant] shall be the priest’s, as a meat offering.(1. Flour can make atonement for the soul — blood
sacrifice not necessary)
- Exodus 30:15 -16
- 15 The rich shall not give more, and the poor shall not give less than half a shekel, when [they] give an offering unto the LORD, to make an
atonement for your souls.16 And thou shalt take the atonement money
of the children of Israel, and shalt appoint it for the service of the tabernacle of the
congregation; that it may be a memorial unto the children of Israel before the LORD, to make an atonement for your souls. (2. Money can atone for the soul, blood sacrifice not needed)
- Numbers 31:50
- 50 We have therefore brought an oblation for the LORD,
what every man hath gotten, of jewels of gold, chains, and
bracelets, rings, earrings, and tablets, to make an atonement for our souls before the LORD.(3. Jewelry can atone for the soul — blood sacrifice not needed)
- Hosea 14:2
- 2 Take with you words, and turn to the LORD: say unto him,
Take away all iniquity, and receive [us] graciously: so will we render
the calves of our lips.3 Asshur shall not save us; we will not ride upon horses: neither will we say any more to the work of our hands, [Ye are] our gods: for in thee the fatherless findeth mercy.(4. Prayer can atone for your soul — blood sacrifice is not necessary)
- Hebrews 9:22
- 22 And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.
- (There is remission of sins by several means other than
the (5.) shedding of blood, as the previous passages say, BUT this last
verse contradicts this — CONTRADICTION)
- General Comments:
- 1. Just as it is unreasonable and unjust for all of humanity to be punished
for the deeds of one man {Adam}, it is equally unreasonable and unjust
for one man to die on the cross for the misdeeds of all humanity. - 2. Jesus could not have been an acceptable sacrifice
or the lamb of God: — sacrifices, sin offerings for unintentional sins and guilt offerings were all slaughtered and burned on the alter and then all of it eaten by the priests. The offering had to be perfect and without blemish or spot.Jesus was not slaughtered and burnt on an alter and not eaten
by the priests. By the time Jesus would have been ready for sacrifice
he was blemished — crown of thorns on his head and he was spat upon,
therefore not perfect. Jesus did not fulfill all the requirements of the
sin offering, instead he died on a cross and was buried in a tomb instead
of dying on an alter and eaten. - 3. Christ’s suffering on the cross was for only a short time. This was
for an infinite sacrifice for sin of all mankind forever. The most intense
suffering for a limited period is as nothing compared with the eternal
suffering of non-believers in hell — the unbeliever will pay more for sins
than Christ did..) - Back
